Get to Know Shelby Rice
Over the different semesters working with the SSC theatre department in person after the pandemic, Shelby has worked on productions such as Witches of Shakespeare, Antigone Now, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (which was her favorite thus far) and, most recently, I & You. She was also fortunate to have been chosen to help with a production of CHICAGO at the Dr. Phillips Center over the Summer when the school was tapped to build the set for the pre-professional production in the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theatre.
Shelby is going in her last semester and will be graduating from SSC in May, and then will be Direct Connecting to UCF in Fall of 2023. She has grown to be quite the problem solver after watching SSC’s theatre program flourish again and find new footing, after it's main stage in the G Building fell into a sinkhole just after the 2019 spring semester. Growing in a new direction alongside the program was a unique experience that she feels gave her many skills she would not have gotten otherwise. Her classmates and professors gave her wisdom and courage she will take with her wherever she goes in the future!
